Summer 2018 Updates

As we’re well into the dog days of summer, I hope you’re all keeping cool, and have escaped at least once for a little R&R. It’s been a busy summer at my studio, and I’ve produced a lot of new works.

The first six months of 2018 have been a whirlwind, but filled with exciting developments. I joined the Olney Art Association, a learning creative community of visual fine artists that was founded in 1974. The expertise of our members represents a variety of mediums, including oil paintings, pastel, acrylics and watercolor. I’ve enjoyed the chance to connect with fellow artists, learning and growing from exposure to their creativity, and seeing the influence of the community within my own work.

I’ve participated in a few shows over the past few months, and it’s been rewarding to exhibit my work and showcase my latest creations to the art community. I also have a number of new shows on the horizon, which I will list below. I wanted to highlight one particularly exciting upcoming show: the 11 Doors. 11 Stories. Art Exhibition.

This show will bring together “The Doors of Make Room” commissioned artists and rent-burdened families, as the artists decorate doors to raise awareness of the 11 million families who spend more than half of their income on rent. It will be attended by national and local leaders and elected officials, sponsors, press and art fans.

I was honored to serve in an advisory capacity for this campaign as a professional artist, where I helped judge the selection of 11 artists proposals from around the country in creation of the doors. The art seeks to raise awareness and funds to combat our national housing crisis, an extremely worthy cause. You can find out more about supporting this effort here.

After the doors are displayed to the public in DC, they will be auctioned at a fundraising event in mid September.

My recent profile in The Beacon

Greetings, all. I hope you had a wonderful holiday season with your family and loved ones.

I wanted to share a profile piece that recently ran in The Beacon, a family-owned publication for the Greater Washington, D.C. area.

The piece describes my path back to painting and creating, my areas of focus, and the influences and inspirations that color my artwork and creative process.

Most importantly, this profile is a perfect example of something I believe fervently: it's never too late to pursue your dreams.

You can read the article here - and stay tuned for more news on upcoming shows and artwork!
